Last week saw Julian Day delivering our CPD session on Fire Compartmentation and Fire Stopping Awareness to a large, multi-disciplinary client at their head office in Hertfordshire.
This was the second well received session for this client to their team which included service engineers, trade persons, supervisors, site managers, and commercial staff. The session was tailored to provide all personnel with an understanding of fire compartmentation and the effective fire stopping of breaches, which is of vital importance in their day-to-day work ensuring that their staff do not start works in buildings without understanding what fire compartmentation is.
Included in the session is why compartment lines and fire stopping are there and the importance of them, what effect the persons activities may have on the resistance of fire compartmentation, and who to contact for information and guidance to ensure ongoing fire integrity and compliance.
As Julian states on the course – “You wouldn’t drill into a wall without knowing if it contained asbestos, so why would you make a hole in a wall not knowing and understanding if it was a fire compartment line and what fire integrity needs to be maintained.”
